Towards the end of my first GCSE year at Secondary School, we were informed that our form tutor was leaving to return to her home town. She had been our tutor since we had started the school. For most of my classmates that was from Year 7, for me from Year 8 when we moved from Gravesend to Bournemouth.
When she left, she handed each of us a wallet card with this poem. I may have lost the card but the poem has stayed with me ever since.
"Don't Quit" - Author Unknown
When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but do not quit.
Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things go wrong that you must not quit.
I am linking this up to Emma's Wednesday Words.
